Reupholstered Victorian Rocking Armchair

Rare antique Open Wing Victorian Rocking Armchair. Beautifully reupholstered in blue and beige cotton - Kuga by Warwick – a design inspired by an area in the democratic Republic of Congo where, historically, the men would weave raffia into a fabric that was then dyed, embroidered and decorated by the women. 

Makers mark on back leg (no. 2874) and whole newly built, deep sprung seat. Unusually, with a frame connected by hinges at the front and springs at the back this armchair gently rocks. Traditionally stuffed – no foam.
